With Cabinet and White House positions being announced seemingly every five minutes, one important role still remains empty: White House Press Secretary. Although many have speculated that the gig might go to the forceful and eloquent Trump attorney and senior adviser Alina Habba, she took to X Thursday to say she will not be facing the WH press corps on a daily basis:

While I am flattered by the support and speculation, the role of Press Secretary is not a role I am considering. Although I love screaming from a podium I will be better served in other capacities.

This adminstration is going to be epic! So proud of the Trump team, the latest appointments and 47!
In my opinion, she would have been good at the job: she’s telegenic, quick on her feet, and not shy about sharing her opinions. It sounds like she will still be involved in the administration, however, as she wrote, “I will be better served in other capacities.” We’ll see where she ends up.
There are several names reportedly under consideration, and any of them would be better than the always-angry Karine Jean-Pierre, Biden’s press secretary, who treats the press like troubled children and takes to the podium most days with a massive chip on her shoulder. CNN’s Scott Jennings has been a name thrown out there a lot because his epic takedowns of liberal whiners during the election have become legend.
Names under consideration include Trump campaign national press secretary Karoline Leavitt, former Trump administration official Monica Crowley, former ESPN host Sage Steele, CNN contributor Scott Jennings and RNC spokeswoman Elizabeth Pipko, according to Axios.
The press secretary role is one of the most visible at the White House, typically holding daily press briefings with the White House press corps to speak on behalf of the president.
His new administration plans to challenge longstanding traditions that favor mainstream outlets like major broadcast and cable news networks, national newspapers and wire services, like The Associated Press, in the James Brady Press Briefing Room, according to Axios.

Scott Jennings just cooks them. Carl Bernstein’s face is priceless.

Trump may shake up how things are done and drive yet another stake into the heart of legacy media:
Trump’s new administration is considering giving MAGA-friendly outlets access to the press briefings, Axios reports, which have traditionally featured cable news, print and wire service reporters.
It’s been an interesting last few days as Trump fills in his administration. The role of press secretary will be key, as that person will be the face of the team as they implement their policies and seek to undo the damage wrought by Biden-Harris. The mainstream media will doubtless explode with fury no matter who he picks, and that person will immediately be branded as “extreme.”

Count me among those who would love to see Scott Jennings take on the position. He has proven regularly that he can not only take the slings and arrows of the progressive press—he can leave them stuttering like the fools most of them are.
I don’t get a vote, but if I did, I would heartily endorse Jennings.
