John Barrasso has won the Wyoming Senate race.
Democrat Scott Morrow faced off against Republican incumbent Barrasso in the race for Wyoming’s Senate seat.
Morrow, a single parent, ran his campaign on the slogan “equality in the equality state.”
“With a career dedicated to representing workers as a union officer and President and Director of Industrial Relations, Scott has fought for fair treatment in cases involving the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Merit Systems Protection Board, Social Security Disability Insurance, unemployment compensation, and the Americans with Disabilities Act,” his website states.
Morrow also says that after decades of being disregarded by Wyoming’s senators, he felt compelled to run against John Barrasso in order to “fight for everyday Wyomingites.”
He maintains that he is dedicated to helping the people, not the wealthy and powerful.
John Barrasso has held his Wyoming Senate seat since 2007.
He was appointed after former Senator Craig Thomas (R-Wy.) died. Prior to being elected to the Senate, Barrasso was an orthopedic surgeon for 24 years. He was also the president of the Wyoming Medical Society and was named Wyoming Physician of the Year.
As the Chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, he is the third-ranking member of the Senate Republican leadership.
He is a member of committees that have a direct bearing on commerce, public lands, national parks, energy interests, and Wyoming’s economy. Barrasso serves as the ranking member of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee in addition to other committee responsibilities.
In May, 45th President Donald J. Trump endorsed Barrasso.
“Senator John Barrasso is an incredible advocate for the great people of Wyoming,” he wrote on Truth Social.
“John works hard to stop the disastrous policies of Crooked Joe Biden and to secure our border. John is a True Patriot who fights to Create Jobs, Lower Inflation, Promote American Energy, Uphold the Rule of Law, and Support our amazing Farmers and Ranchers,” he continued.
“John Barrasso has my Complete and Total Endorsement,” Trump concluded.
At the time of this reporting, John Barrasso won with 80.2% of the vote compared to Morrow’s 19.4%
9% of the expected votes have been counted.
