LSU Students Tell Pro-Hamas Supporters They Have No SEC Titles and Therefore Their Opinions Are Invalid

There are a few schools where these silly little pro-Hamas protests don’t seem to be working out. Like SEC schools, for one thing.

Over at Alabama, the pro- and anti-Hamas briefly had a moment of solidarity as they began to chant vulgarities about the current president. Ole Miss students, in fine form, called one of the protesters “Lizzo” for in true Ole Miss fashion. At Florida, encampments were swiftly dealt with while at Georgia multiple people were arrested.

But, seeing as I am a fan of the Bayou Bengals of LSU, I must exhibit a certain amount of pride in this video that has come out from the campus of the state’s flagship university.

Counter-protestors shouted at the students who were marching in favor of terrorists using the most devastating insults available. One lad at the center of the video loudly told the marchers that they had both zero national championships and zero SEC championships.

LSU won the National Championship in baseball and women’s basketball in 2023. They last won a National Championship in football in 2019, the same year they won an SEC title. In contrast, Hamas and its supporters have won no SEC titles, much less any National Championships in any sport, which renders their opinions on geopolitical affairs absolutely worthless.

The counter-protestors then started chanting “U-S-A!” at the pro-terror students making their way through LSU’s campus, which was a gentle reminder that the United States of America is the only place where you can win both an SEC title and a National Championship.

I feel a wonderful sense of pride in these LSU students for standing up to terror with the most devastating insults.

When we in Louisiana first heard about the upcoming protest on LSU’s campus, we all had a chuckle and really didn’t think much of it. There wasn’t all that much media coverage, the event came and went, and most of Louisiana seems fairly ignorant of what went on there. Which, frankly, is as it should be.

Sure, these students have a right to protest, and they did so in a non-violent and a not-terribly-disruptive manner, so kudos to them for that, at least. But they are at the flagship school of a deep red state. That protest was essentially shouting into the void, anyway, and there was never really any chance that it was going to be anything other than a non-factor in convincing people in the state to re-assess their ways when it came to supporting Israel.

But the counter-protestors really do have a point, underneath it all: Hamas is not a winning team, and winning matters at LSU. We’ve fired coaches with better records than Hamas. We’ve parted ways with coaches for less scandalous activities than terrorism and calls for the genocide of the Jews. There was never any chance that LSU’s overall campus culture would warmly embrace those who are pro-Hamas.

And that is why, despite its numerous flaws, I just love this state sometimes.
